This session is designed for learners who are required to administer a prefilled subcutaneous injection (usually Genotropin) to a child or young person.
The learner must first attend Medication Administration Awareness prior to attending this session.
There are a minimum of two competency assessments required for this training. Learners are not deemed competent until they have completed both theory and practical elements. Competency assessments need to be booked at the learner’s venue with the child or young person present in order for the nurse assessors to observe the learner administering the injection. Competency assessments must be completed within three months of theory training.
This training is child specific which means that the competency skills are not transferable. On receipt of your referral for this training, a Training Team nurse will contact you to discuss your training needs.
Please note: we do not provide training for devices delivering diabetic medication.
