Oxygen Awareness

This session aims to provide learners with a basic awareness as to why a child or young person may need oxygen, and different equipment available.

This session is not child specific.

There is no competency assessment to this training.

Aims of the session

To have an understanding of why oxygen (O2) may be required, and how to use it.

 

Objectives of the session

  • To understand what oxygen is and the importance of it
  • To be aware of how to use oxygen and when this may be needed
  • To be aware of different delivery systems
  • To be aware of safety and risk issues when using oxygen

 

Teaching and learning strategy

A variety of teaching and learning strategies will be facilitated during the theory session to include presentations and question and answer sessions.

 

Target audience

Anyone caring for a child or young person in a community setting who has been prescribed oxygen.

 

Delivery format and duration

  • Face to face: 30 minutes
  • MST: 30 minutes
  • Moodle: available for annual update

 

Update requirement

An annual update is recommended.
