Quality Improvement and Research Excellence Award
The Quality Improvement and Research Excellence Award aims to celebrate and recognise outstanding contributions to enhancing patient experience through quality improvement or research. This award is open to both clinical and non-clinical staff who have demonstrated excellence in these areas. Please read the guidelines carefully to determine where your nomination fits best.
To nominate for the Quality Improvement Award please use the criteria below:
This award recognises an individual or team who has designed, tested and implemented a quality improvement project within their area of work. Whether the initiative is small or large scale, it must have significantly enhanced the quality of service delivery and/or care, with clear evidence to support this improvement. Nominations can be for clinical or non-clinical quality improvements.
Core Criteria
- The nominee(s) must have designed, tested, and implemented the quality improvement project.
- The project must have significantly enhanced service delivery and/or care.
The judges will be looking for evidence of:
- How the project involved working with others to design and implement the improvement.
- Utilisation of recognised methodologies and frameworks within the Trust.
- Clear articulation of the project's aim, including a driver diagram and change ideas.
- Evidence of Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycles and the learning derived from them.
- Showing the extent of the improvement, including who and how many people have benefited.
- Plans and evidence showing how the improvement is being sustained over time.
To nominate for the Research Award please use the criteria below:
This can be an individual or team who has supported, facilitated or carried out research relevant to health within the Trust. The research can be either small or large scale and must have the potential to significantly enhance care or diagnosis. The nominee(s) should have made significant efforts to ensure the research is effectively conducted. Projects completed since 2023 or ongoing are eligible. Nominations can be for clinical or non-clinical staff linked to research.
Core Criteria
- The nominee(s) must have supported, facilitated or carried out research.
- The research must have the potential to significantly enhance care or diagnosis.
The judges will be looking for evidence of:
- Involvement of multiple stakeholders in the research process.
- Demonstrating how the public and patients were engaged in the research.
- Efforts to enhance recruitment of services and patients for the research.
- Initiatives taken to expedite processes to ensure timely research progress.
- Evidence of improvement and benefit derived from the research.
- Contributions to creating a culture of research within their service.
