Frequently asked questions about the OSCARS

Who can nominate someone for an award?

Nominations can be made by anyone who has had contact with our staff and/or volunteers in any capacity, and feels they deserve an award.

Who can be nominated?

All nominees must work for the Trust either in a paid or unpaid capacity as at the closing date of 10 March 2025. All volunteer award nominees must be registered with the Involvement, Experience and Volunteering team.

How can I nominate someone?

To nominate someone, you need to complete an online nomination form. Click here to find two forms, a general form and a patient only form.  A paper form is also available on the website if required. Hardcopy nomination forms must be received by the Communications Team no later than 10 March 2025.

Is there a word limit?

Yes. No more than 350 words. Any words after this will not be considered. If may be useful to type up your nomination in a Word document, utilising tools such as word check and spelling check, you can then copy and paste your nomination into the form.

I don't want to complete my nomination form all in one go - can I do this?

If you don't want to fill it all out at once you can draft it on Word first and copy/paste it onto the form when you're ready to submit.

Can I only make one nomination?

No, there is no limit as to how many nominations can be made by an individual, team or organisation.

How should I fill in the nomination form so that I have the best chance of being successful?

Judges are looking for nominations which meet the core and category specific criteria. They will mark applications on the evidence and examples given. It is important that applicants take into consideration the core and specific criteria when completing their form. View the category and guidelines document (PDF Form) (opens in new window)

How can I choose the most appropriate award category for my nomination?

View the category and guidelines document (PDF Form) (opens in new window), whichever category you can answer the most points on; this is the category you should apply for. If the judges feel that your application fits better into another category, they will move it to the most appropriate one.

What if I am late submitting my nomination?

Nominations received after the closing date of 10 March 2025 will not be considered but will be included in the 2025 / 2026 OSCARS.

Will my nomination be acknowledged?

At the end of the form it will say thank you for filling in your form. The person you have nominated will receive a copy of their nomination included in a letter from the Chair and Chief Executive.

How will I know if my nomination has been shortlisted?

A list of the shortlisted nominees will be placed on our website towards the end of April 2025 after the judging takes place. Shortlisted nominees will also be contacted by email with further details. We will also share details of the shortlist on our social media channels.

Will I receive an invitation to the awards ceremony if I am nominated?

You will only receive an invite if you are shortlisted.

Who judges the awards?

Each judging panel will include a Non Executive Director, a Trust representative from each Care Group; a Governor Member; an LGBT+ representative, a BME representative, an Armed Forces representative, a Disabled Network representative and a Staff Side representative. Our judging process can be found here

When and where are the OSCARS awards ceremonies held?
