Congratulations to our Oral Health Promotion Team who have won at the national Dental Awards. The team won the Best National Smile Month Initiative category for their ‘Share a Smile’ campaign.
The “Share A Smile” campaign was created to support National Smile Month but also to support the local community during the pandemic. Life was different. The campaign needed to support that. A range of activities were promoted and delivered across a myriad of platforms as face to face contact was not allowed. Creativity and innovation was key! As people were working from home, staying safe at home or isolating at home, activities and engagement from home was important.
The actives included, make your own smiley, create a smile acrostic poem or song, make a salt dough smile badge and make a smile mosaic for your window (using red rubbish found in your home!)
There were short videos on Facebook to follow if anyone needed help. People were invited to share their home-made goods on social media platforms using the #ShareASmile.
As part of the campaign an e-bulletin was also created. The resource was to share information, signpost activities and competitions and be an all-round activity pack for children, families and staff
Julia Wilkinson, Head of Oral Health Promotion said: “We are absolutely over the moon (and stars!) to receive this award! It has been a challenging year for everyone so this national award makes all the effort worthwhile.”
