A Nottinghamshire Healthcare bladder and bowel nurse has been awarded a national award for her dedication, commitment, passion, and high-quality care.

Kay Richardson, Bladder and Bowel Nurse at Nottinghamshire Healthcare, has been awarded a Cavell Star Award. An inspiring national awards programme, Cavell Star Awards are given to nurses, midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants who shine bright and show exceptional care to one of three groups of people, their colleagues, their patients or patients’ families.

Kay said:

I was blown away and speechless that I received the Cavell Star Award, I absolutely love my job as a bladder and bowel nurse. I have had some lovely feedback from my patients, which for me is very rewarding and lovely to hear the positive outcomes they have had. Knowing I had been nominated for this award and winning really makes me proud and honoured that my hard work in clinics is also being recognised by my colleagues.

Kay started in April with a large waiting list. Over the last five months, she has worked tirelessly to reduce this to 17 weeks. She has improved patient care and patient outcomes. Kay has also received some outstanding feedback from patients regarding her care, assessment and advice.

Becky Sutton, Chief Operating Officer said:

Congratulations to Kay. She has really demonstrated her commitment to providing the highest quality care to our patients and done such a fantastic job getting the waiting list down. She really deserves this national recognition. Well done Kay.
