Online gallery
Welcome to our online art gallery; a collection of creative projects by staff and patients from across the Trust.
Arts, crafts and creative work is really important for our mental health. It can help to boost confidence, and make us feel more engaged and resilient. It can also alleviate anxiety, depression and stress. All the work you see below has been completed in the last year, helping the artists themselves to cope with the ongoing challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Women’s Services Patient Poetry
A collection of poems highlighting the talents of patients within Women’s Services during COVID-19 times.
YOU CAN NEVER BEAT MORALITY AND RESPECT
We are going through a nationwide pandemic
Some lives lost and some lives found
At times like this we pulled together
What goes above must come back down.
Some people are isolated and some are not
All frontline workers deserve a merit and shall never be forgot
Sharing the ability of love and respect regardless of race and ethnicity
Produces a considerate and compassionate community via this difficult crisis
Through times like these I would like to say “ Thank You for coming together and I am very pleased.
Open your heart and be true to yourself
As God believes in you and that is natural wealth
God bless everyone.
THE LITTLE DEMON
Red blood out and black blood in
My Daddy say’s I’m a child of sin
Yet when I look at my closest Kin
I know that here my good dreams begin.
All the attributes, fat and thin
It matters now, you’re wide as a pin
A mirror facing inwards, pushing one in
That’s what I see when it’s all in.
The idea is to love what you already possess
To culminate, you’re beautiful, no more, no less.
HOPE
Seeing things hearing voices
Self harm we have no choices
Feelings buried deep inside
Feeling like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Scars on top scars beneath
Always hold onto the belief
We can get out of here and have some fun
Drinking beers in the sun.
But if you fight the system you will stay here too long
With rage inside you like King Kong
You will find it hard to get along.
COVID
Covid been diagnosed I was very low
What was going to happen I didn’t know
Cough Cough it wouldn’t stop, It was only then I know how serious it was.
I didn’t just have Covid, I had Pneumonia too, I didn’t know what to do.
I did not know what would happen to me
All the nurses and doctors very busy looking after me
When I woke from my Coma it was a shock to me
I was very confused what had happened to me.
My Covid has gone and now I’m back at Rampton
My Covid has gone and now I know how precious life is,
and I am very grateful too.
STRUGGLES
We see the struggles of the life you lived
We try to understand the feelings of despair
We do not judge just care
Care about your wellbeing and overcome your dark place.
To find peace of mind to overcome your past and look forward to your future.
TELL ME
Tell me how you are feeling - Don’t lock it up inside
Life should be a journey - Not a one-way ride. Remember where you are going and places you meet
Remember to look where you are going and not down at your feet
Remember a smile is worth a thousand words - Laughter is worth more
Think about your future and never close that door.
JO & ANDY
Always on the go, fast and never slow
Their work is good enough for any show, five stars and nothing below
If it wasn’t for Covid we wouldn’t have Jo and Andy
Who have been so wonderfully handy
They have so many great ideas, fireplaces and fresh air
No matter the weather they are always there.
To conclude Jo and Andy are just what we need
We are very thankful indeed.
YOU LIVE AND YOU LEARN
People like us need to come together and form a revolution
To provide the world with tears of laughter. Love, loyalty, respect and morals
Here’s my heart and here’s my sleeve,
Here’s my shoulder if you’re ever in need.
Regardless of culture and ethnicity we’re all unique and share equality
Too many mistakes made and too many to hide
We live and we learn that’s how we get by
Be true to yourself and respect one another
Spread your wings and fly away, we may reunite another day
Chin up and respect is give and take
So don’t give your soul to those that hate.
DADS POEM
The sheep go Baaaa
The cows go Moo
The owl in the tree goes Twit Twit Twoo
It all goes quiet and you can’t hear a sound
Someone farted and the tent falls down
VALENTINE
Valentine Valentine
The day of affection
It’s about finding the one you love, and finding the connection
It’s full of chocolates and smile too
This day is important, every year that goes by
You can fall in love with a girl or even a guy
So thank you, thank you
For your kindness and care
My love for you will always be there
SO, COME ON IN
So, Come on in, have a cup of tea
Make yourself at home, put up your feet
I think it’s time we joined forces,
Because it’s about time we got this virus under control
We’ll can do this as a whole, we will do this together
Try and get rid of Covid forever
We are a force to be reckoned and never come second
We can’t do much and can’t go out
So, come on put your cup at a spout and have a drink
We have plenty of time to think about what’s going to happen
So please stop mapping out the future, that no one can predict
not even a psychic
So, come, sit down put up your feet and let’s have a cuppa.
MY FRIEND CLOVELY
Horses are my favourite animal
The way they look with their long mane and tail
They move so gracefully
They have the most individual personality.
I would love my own brown horse
I remember when I used to ride a horse
Up on the moors, green and beautiful
My horses name was Clovely
He was shiny and grey
When I sat upon him, I felt like a queen
Horses are my favourite animal
Horses are lovely, whatever the colour.
CAN YOU PLEASE SPARE SOME TIME
Today your presence makes me smile
Endorphins going crazy, must have done at least five miles
Want you to stay a while
Cannot get you on the phone face dial
I’m glad you’re here to help me understand my complex self
Hoping that I can take care and goodness from help shelf
Perhaps educate myself, perhaps even improve my health.
All the things that I can do: art, craft, horticulture & gym to name a few
learn to love my inner beast to be calm and content in all i do
with the help of you and the team too
here come the last two lines, all the energy from woodbines
hope this poem finds a place on your shelf to help you appreciate your inner self.
Easter is Coming
Easter is coming the chicks are getting fat
Please put a scrambled egg in the old man’s hat
If you haven’t got a scrambled egg a mini egg will do
if you haven’t got a mini egg god bless you
I like the season Spring because I like to see the lambs being born
I like to see sheep around the fields as they go
I like the noise they make as I am walking in the hills
I like to see the snow on the ground around them
Last Tulip Standing
There’s a predator in my mind, There’s a predator in my heart,
There’s a predator in my soul, There’s a predator deep within,
You see we can all relate to the predator somehow,
It lingers like a bad smell, It hounds you like a black dog,
It gets in your head, Makes you question about life,
For all the victims of the predator, Caroline, Avicii, Amy,
Will there be a last tulip standing.
Hope
Hope gives you a place to go if you ever feel low
Hope is a thing to hold onto, It helps you see things through.
Hope helps with recovery, this you will see.
Hope is a calming thing, to help you with just being.
Hold on pain ends.
Help Me
Please help me God I feel all alone,
I’m just your kid don’t leave me on my own
I wake up every day don’t want to leave my bed
The voices go round in my head
My life is bad, my life is a mess
But with God I hate rest
In this world there is no hiding
Sure I used to turn to fighting
My emotions sometimes get the better of me
To survive I just need to be set free
Leaving Rampton
Being at Rampton was a difficult time at first
Away from my friends, family, it hurts
When they told me I was moving to medium
I felt delighted, but scared to be free again
Saying my final goodbyes, it is going to hurt
The staff have been here for me through thick and thin
And it is hard to let new people in
I will take a lot of memories from here
And to be able to trust someone and have no fear
Healing At Rampton
My mum I the best
Sometimes I will put het to the test
Rampton gives her a little rest It gets cold at night, wear a vest
Anytime I can eat, at Rampton I have my own seat
MP3 is a music beat, cold at night rest your feet
Create your own personal space, jobs on Ruby are not a race
Don’t trip over your shoelace, the weather you just have to brace
One last thing is left to say
Come to Rampton, enjoy your stay
A comfy bed you can lay
Obstacles to climb, come what may
MARTINI
Martini is in a bikini
She’s full of sun and sits in the sun
She loves to hum and singalong to a song, a melody
Or listen to the script
She has good dialect but also very perfect
In so many ways martini is the boss and we all know
As we are all against the fuss
But we do like to engage and learn
New skills to enable us to become brilliant people
Martini is always there when we are in need or in deed
MY LIGHTHOUSE IN A STORM
Coming out was the right decision
Even though I received lots of criticism
Whether you identify as a he’s, he or they
Always be yourself no matter what they say
My family hold such an old fashioned view
So I found my support in LGBTQ
Some people say that it’s a sin
No matter what I do I just can’t win
In my heart I can’t change being me
I have to be myself so I can feel free
People are just afraid of those who don’t conform to the norm
But my Niece is my rock and my lighthouse in a storm
TED STAFF ARE THE BEST
Ted staff are the best
They are better than all the rest
They do good things and don’t let me run rings around them
They are brilliant and funny
They take us for walks, play Scrabble and cards
And we have lots of fun
We love the DRC it gives us a change of scenery
It helps us when we are bored getting us off the ward
There’re my friends are the TED staff
MY MUM
MY MUM, MY MUM, SHE IS THE BEST, SHE IS BETTER THAN ALL THE REST
MY MUM, MY MUM, HELPS ME A LOT EVEN WHEN I GO POP
MY MUM, MY MUM, YOU ARE THE ONE BECAUSE YOU HELP US HAVE LOTS OF FUN
MY MUM, MY MUM, I MISS YOU LOADS, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE HAIRY TOES
MY MUM, MY MUM, I LOVE YOU LOTS BECAUSE YOU ARE LIKE JELLY TOTS
THE FAIRY QUEEN
COME TO ME MY FAIRIES AND LAY YOURSELVES DOWN
AS I TELL YOU OF SOME MAGIC
IN LANDS OF FAIRY CROWN
AND TO YOUR BEDS DO CLOSE YOUR EYES AND PROMISE NOT TO PEEK
FOR I AM THE FAIRY QUEEN
TO GUIDE YOU TO YOUR SLEEP
SO CALMLY REST AND LISTEN TO THE TALES
I NOW SHALL TELL A PLACE OF CHARM AND AS PRECIOUS AS A PEARL WITHIN ITS SHELL
MY HOME WHERE EVEN STARS MAY SHINE UPON THE DAY
SO, TO YOUR BEDS DO HURRY
AND THERE IN COMFORT STAY.
SNOW
WHAT CAN I REALLY SAY ABOUT SNOW?
WELL I REALLY DON’T KNOW
ITS SOFT AND WHITE
CAN FALL TO GREAT HEIGHT
DISRUPTS OUR ROADS, LOADS AND LOADS
YOU CAN GRIT AND GET RID OF IT
TO GET OUT A PIT
BUT WHERES THE FUN
SNOW ANGELS, SNOW MEN WITH BIG TUMS
ITS LOOKS SO PRETTY
THAT’S WHY ITS SUCH A PITY
IT ONLY COMES ONCE A YEAR
BUT I GUESS THAT HELPS US OUT OF FEAR OF GETTING STUCK
LETS FACE IT, WHEN IT LANDS ITS JUST WHITE MUCK!
