Thursday 29th of October 2020, 12pm-2pm
The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS will be marking this year’s Black History Month with a virtual partnership event.
This is your opportunity learn, show support and solidarity and celebrate Black History! Black History is about all our histories so even if you don’t identify as BME/BAME we’d love you to show your support for people who are, as an ally.
Black History Month provides a fantastic opportunity for us as ICS partners to recognize the outstanding contributions people of colour have made to our society and the organisations we work in. The historical and ongoing contribution to health and social care is particularly evident.
This year has seen unprecedented challenges that have adversely impacted upon BME/BAME communities and colleagues. Our themes for this year’s event will reflect this; the Impact of COVID-19 health inequalities, Black Lives Matter, structural inequalities and the racist murder of George Floyd. Out of this comes better understanding and optimism that we can all work together to develop anti-racist and inclusive cultures in our respective organisations, through shared dialogue, education and committed leadership.
Our aim for this event is that people of all ethnicities and protected characteristics will come together to foster good relations and continue to move this important work forward.
We hope you can join in on the day or watch the recording after the event.
