World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 18-24 November

Antibiotic Guardian and Keep Antibiotics Working campaigns, European Antibiotic Awareness Day (EAAD) and World Antimicrobial Awareness Week are major public health initiatives that aim to encourage responsible use of antibiotics and tackle the global issue of antibiotic resistance.

Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats facing us today and the overuse or misuse of antibiotics is making the problem worse. Setting broken bones, basic operations, transplants, even chemotherapy all rely on access to antibiotics that work. To slow resistance we need to cut the use of unnecessary antibiotics.

Talk to your family and friends about antibiotic resistance, and the fact that we don’t always need antibiotics when we’re ill.
