Three staff at Rampton Hospital win national award
We are very proud of three staff from Rampton Hospital who have each won a Cavell Star Award.
An inspiring national awards programme, Cavell Star Awards are given to nurses, midwives, nursing associates and healthcare assistants who shine bright and show exceptional care to one of three groups of people, their colleagues, their patients or patients’ families.
Our first winner is Gary Holland, Health Care Assistant who works within a specialist autism ward based at Rampton Hospital within the national high secure learning disability service. Gary is very deserving of this nomination, as during his time as a healthcare assistant, Gary's compassion and commitment to his patients is continuously evident within all aspects of his practice. He has strived to educate himself on the needs of the patient group and role models positive communication, empathy and kindness in all he does.
Helen Watkinson, Operational Manager of the National Services (Learning Disability, Deaf and Women’s) within Rampton High Secure Hospital is our second winner. Her knowledge and compassion shines through on a daily basis! She is a huge inspiration to anyone she meets. She has such drive and commitment to supporting both staff and the patients within the services. Helen will always make time for you, she is extremely busy but she will always make the time and support you in any circumstance.
Sarah Illingworth is our final winner. She has always shown herself to be a dedicated and selfless person throughout her time as a Healthcare Assistant and now as a Registered Nursing Associate. Sarah will go above and beyond for the patients in her care and she is committed to her professional skill and knowledge development. Sarah takes time to get to know her patients and builds trust to make them feel safe in her presence which greatly helps reduce risk, she will seek out training opportunities to develop herself, she has undertaken the lead role for supporting staff wellbeing, the patients respect and value her input and she does this whilst supporting the team and showing great leadership potential.
