Puneeth Yadav – work experience, Finance and Procurement team

Puneeth recently completed a work experience programme with the Trust’s Finance and Procurement team. Hear about his time with #TeamNottsHC in his blog…

"I recently had an amazing opportunity to do work experience at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in the Finance and Procurement department. I learned a lot about how money is managed and how things are bought for the healthcare industry and NHS.

"During my time at the Trust, I got to shadow professionals from different teams, including Financial Services, Mental Health, Community Health, and Procurement. I saw how they work together to manage budgets, make financial reports, handle payroll, and buy important supplies.

"One of the highlights was helping with data entry and making financial reports using tools like Microsoft Excel and Power BI. I also learned how to clean and organize data using SQL (Structured Query Language) and create interactive financial dashboards that show important metrics. Additionally, I got to use the Trust's ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system for tasks like managing purchase orders and processing invoices.

"Throughout my placement, I was inspired by the professionals' dedication to making sure everything runs efficiently, controlling costs, and maintaining a strong supply chain while providing the highest standards of patient care. Their commitment to following regulations and handling the unique challenges of the healthcare industry left a lasting impression on me.

"I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone at the Trust who made this experience so rewarding, especially Rhianna for giving me this opportunity and supporting me throughout my work experience. I'm really excited to use everything I learned in my future career.”

Rhianna Bircumshaw and Puneeth Yadav

Rhianna Bircumshaw, Business Support Manager said, “We were delighted to have Puneeth with us for his work experience placement. He was eager to learn and quickly picked up new skills. His enthusiasm and hard work were evident in everything he did. We're proud to have been a part of Puneeth's journey and wish him all the best for his future endeavours.

Earlier in the year, an internal colleague joined us for work experience, and a Year 10 student joined us at the same time as Puneeth. We also have two students joining us at the end of July, and more in September. I hope that in the future, we can offer even more activities during work experience to make it even more engaging.”

The Trust is proud to support work experience programmes and can offer placements between 1 and 5 days across a range of different professions and environments. Since 2017 the Trust has utilised over £8million of the national levy, with over 500 colleagues completing apprenticeships, and further enhancing their skills, knowledge, and confidence.

Jo-Anne John, Deputy Director of Finance and Procurement said, “Work experience placements like this are incredibly valuable, as they allow young people to gain real-world insights and practical skills in a professional environment. They also bring fresh perspectives and energy to our teams. We’re so glad that Puneeth enjoyed his time with the finance and procurement team, and we look forward to inspiring more students in the future.”
