Nottinghamshire Healthcare has celebrated the first birthday of its in-house Occupational Health service. The service had previously been provided by another trust, but bringing it in-house meant a more bespoke, tailored service to improve the health, wellbeing and safety of colleagues. The occupational health service is based at Trust Headquarters, Duncan Macmillan House and at Rampton Hospital, with satellite clinics at Trust sites in Leicester and Barnsley.
Notts Healthcare colleagues have access to a multi-professional team which includes a Head of Occupational Health, Specialist Mental Health Practitioners, Senior Occupational Health Nurses and a range of admin and support staff.
The anniversary was celebrated with a special event at Duncan Macmillan House. Ifti Majid, Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire Healthcare, officially opened the celebrations and was joined by colleagues from the executive leadership team. Ifti said: “I’m delighted to be here to celebrate the service’s first birthday. It’s important that we can offer a complete wellbeing support package to our colleagues. Thanks to the hard work of the team, the first year has been a great success.”
The team has been exceptionally busy performing 2,007 pre-employment health clearances, 1,098 management referrals and 161 health surveillance assessments as well as offering vaccinations, blood tests and completing self-referral appointments.
Shirley Fields, Head of Occupational Health said, “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved as a team over the past year, and we are here to support colleagues while they care for others.”

The team hopes to achieve SEQOHS (Safe, Effective, Quality Occupational Health Services) accreditation by April 2024 to further evidence the quality of service provided.
