Local community urged to bring festive joy to NHS patients with Charity Christmas Gift Appeal

Text reads Nottinghamshire Healthcare Charity (supporting Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust) Christmas Gift Appeal. Let’s give a gift to patients who will be spending Christmas in our hospitals.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare Charity is calling on its local community to help make Christmas brighter for patients spending the festive season in their hospitals and units.

The charity's Christmas Gift Appeal aims to spread the joy of Christmas with those patients who would otherwise not receive a gift, particularly for those who have no family or if their loved ones live far away.

Nurses and hospital colleagues have pulled together a wish list of suggested items to donate to help make a difference and bring warmth and a sense of home to patients' hospital stays this Christmas.

Any donated unused items such as cosy blankets, sensory items, puzzles, board games, colouring books, slippers, small personal care items (non-aerosol and sensitive) would be appreciated.

Seeing the joy this brings is a wonderful sight and no one should be forgotten at Christmas time. Each thoughtful donation makes a huge difference, helping patients feel remembered and valued during the festive season.

Diane Hull, Chief Nurse, said:

"We know Christmas can be a lonely time for some and even more so if this is spent in a hospital or care unit. Our Trust charity Christmas Gift Appeal aims to make the festivities that little bit more special. For some of our patients, the donated gifts from our local community may be the only gift they receive at this time of year, and I'd like to say thank you for everyone's generosity. You are all truly making a difference to someone this Christmas."

Our services provide care for children, young and older people so we welcome donated gifts for all ages. Alternatively, cash donations can be made to our Nottinghamshire Healthcare Charity.

Donations can be made at the following drop off locations:

  • Main reception at Duncan Macmillan House, Porchester Road, Mapperley, Nottingham NG3 6AA (open Mon-Fri 8.30am to 4pm)

  • Main reception at Highbury Hospital, Highbury Road, Bulwell, Nottingham NG6 9DR (open Mon-Fri 8.30am to 4pm)
