Learning Disability Week 2020

This week is Learning Disability week and the theme is the importance of friendship.

Mencap report that that people with a learning disability already experience high levels of loneliness and social isolation and that this will only have been made worse by the lockdown.

That’s why the theme of friendship is so important - friendships and socialising are vitally important to people with a learning disability and more so in these challenging times.

Over the week, we’ll be talking about why friendship matters and also highlighting some of the important work done by our Trust LD teams. We’ll also be shining a light on the importance of annual health checks for people with learning difficulties. Check out this blog from Sarah Atkinson, Learning Disabilities Primary Care Liaison Nurse.

Keep an eye on our social media channels throughout the week.
