We are thrilled to announce that two of our dedicated pharmacy technicians, Chelsea Harris and Ellie Pepper, have been invited to present at the prestigious Annual Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) Conference this Friday and Saturday, 6-7 September 2024, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham. This is a significant achievement as both Chelsea and Ellie will be showcasing the vital roles that pharmacy technicians play in the prison service.

Chelsea Harris has been an integral part of the team within the Trust’s offender health service for the past six years. Starting her career in community pharmacy, Chelsea worked her way up from an apprentice pharmacy dispenser to a fully qualified Pharmacy Technician. Chelsea finds her role both challenging and rewarding, where every day brings something new.

Ellie Pepper joined the pharmacy world in 2013 and has since advanced from a counter assistant to a Substance Misuse Pharmacy Technician at HMP Ranby. After qualifying in 2019, Ellie briefly worked in a hospital setting before transitioning to offender health, where she has made a significant impact over the past five years.

Their presentation, titled "Pharmacy Technician Roles in Offender Health," will shed light on the crucial contributions that pharmacy technicians like Chelsea and Ellie make in the healthcare of those within the prison system. This opportunity not only highlights their personal achievements but also brings attention to the broader impact of pharmacy technicians in the NHS.

Ashley Harrison, Senior Pharmacy Technician at HMP Ranby Pharmacy, expressed her pride, saying , “I am extremely proud of them both and very grateful for all the hard work they put in to support our team and should be proud of themselves for representing pharmacy within offender health.”

 

Claire Nowak, Interim Chief Pharmacist and Medication Safety Officer, also shared her support : “I am delighted Chelsea and Ellie are able to share the great work they do in their roles, and promoting the impact pharmacy technicians have on patient experience in offender health services. It’s fantastic to hear their achievements will be shared and acknowledged nationally within the pharmacy technician profession. Well done Chelsea and Ellie.”

We are all proud of Chelsea and Ellie for their hard work and dedication. Their participation in this national conference is a significant milestone not only for them but also for the Trust’s entire pharmacy team.
