Carers Week 2020 runs from 8-14 June.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges faced by unpaid carers and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities. It also helps people to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
As a Trust, we are committed to promoting carers’ stories, contributions and issues and to identifying and supporting our staff who are also carers. You can hear more from our Chief Executive, John Brewin in this short video.
In March, the Trust was recognised as a Carer Confident Active Employer by Employers for Carers, a scheme to recognise organisations that create a carer-supportive workplace for their staff. The Trust has a number of measures in place to support staff who are carers including a wellbeing plan, special leave and flexible leave guidance. We are delighted that we are featured as a case study on the Employer for Carers website as an example of NHS organisations providing vital support to carers in the workplace.
Throughout the week we’re hosting our first virtual Care for a Cuppa events across the Trust and our Involvement Team will be sharing stories on their blog. Join in the conversation online with @InvolveNottsHC #CarersWeek. You can also join us in pledging your commitment to ‘Make Caring Visible’ at https://www.carersweek.org/get-involved
