Workforce
Workforce across the adult secure inpatient services has historically been challenging and remains one of the highest risks on the IMPACT Provider Collaborative Learning Disability and Autism (LD&A) risk register. To support providers in understanding and managing their workforce challenges the Collaborative secured non-recurrent funding from Health Education England in spring of 2023. The funding was used to employ a fixed term workforce lead post, who worked across the Reach Out LD&A and Impact Provider Collaboratives. A project brief was developed and agreed and in June 2024 a Workforce Project Lead was recruited on a 12-month fixed term basis. The workforce project aimed to:
- Mapped the current workforce across the LDA secure in-patient care.
- Mapped the skill mix across service and identify innovation opportunities.
- Identified training requirements specific to secure inpatient care.
- Reviewed recruitment and retention workforce challenges and opportunities.
- Identified future workforce challenges facing services.
- Made recommendations through the development of the attached Strategy/presentation pack to support all providers with future workforce planning.
