Early Interventions in Psychosis (EIP)

Nottinghamshire Early Intervention in Psychosis service provides assessment and treatment for people aged 14-65 experiencing their first episode of psychosis or at risk of developing psychosis.

The aims of the service are:

  • To provide early assessment and treatment of the symptoms of psychosis.
  • To provide a range of interventions.
  • To provide support for family and significant others.
  • To work with other agencies to support the person.

Getting help early gives someone experiencing psychosis the best chance of getting better more quickly.

What will happen at your first appointment

Not everyone requires an appointment from our service, but this is determined at the first point of contact through a telephone call to introduce ourselves and ask you a few questions. We'll review that information with our team in a clinical discussion and then we may offer you a face-to-face appointment.

We offer appointments at home or at a local NHS site and this will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. We really like to involve families and carers; however, it is up to you if you would like to bring someone with you to the appointment.

At the appointment, we will speak to you about the things you have been experiencing and ask you questions about how these have been affecting you.
